Filler
Facial fillers are products such as collagen, hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxyl apatite that rejuvenate facial skin by reducing or eliminating wrinkles, raising scar depressions, enhancing lips and replacing soft-tissue volume loss through facial injections.
With age, our skin becomes more susceptible to wrinkles and sagging.
Exposure to sun and years of muscle movement ( squinting, chewing, smiling ) contribute to tissue breakdown of the skin.
Fillers have become popular non-surgical, office-based procedures in recent years. They provide instant results that can last up to a year, and play an important role in rejuvenation of the face.
Before the Procedure:
One of the wonderful things about fillers is that minimal advance preparation is required.
You can receive treatment on the day of your first consultation. You may follow your normal life
The Procedure:
In general, The Procedure takes less than fifteen minutes. Prior to the injection, most patients have a topical anesthetic (numbing cream) applied to the areas to be treated. The most common areas to be treated include the naso-labial folds (smile lines), marionette lines, lines in and around the lips, the lips themselves (lip enhancement), and the nose (non-surgical rhinoplasty). This will then be removed and a cold gel pack applied to the treatment area shortly before injection. Alcohol or antiseptic will be used to clean the skin just prior to your treatment.
What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers help to diminish facial lines and restore volume and fullness in the face.
As we age, our faces naturally lose subcutaneous fat. The facial muscles are then working closer to the skin surface, so smile lines and crow’s feet become more apparent.
Dermal fillers can be used to:
Plump thin lips
Enhance shallow contours
Soften facial creases and wrinkles
Improve the appearance of recessed scars
Dermal fillers can be very helpful in those with early signs of aging, or as a value-added part of facial rejuvenation surgery.
The injection sites will be cleansed with an antibacterial agent.
– Pain at the injection site may be ameliorated by use of a very cold instrument to chill the skin, anesthetic ointment to numb the skin, or injection of local anesthesia.
While not painless, the injections are usually easily tolerated.
Injection usually takes only a few moments per site. The process of injecting, massaging, and evaluating the result is performed, and additional filler added as needed.
Depending on the number of areas to be treated, the whole process may be as short as 15 minutes, or as long as an hour.
